Pat Cummins Stuns Mumbai Indians: Chasing the target of 162 against Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders were in need of an Andre Russell finish when they required 61 runs from 42 balls. Russell gets out to a short ball from Tymal Mills. Felt like game over for KKR with Venkatesh Iyer struggling at the other end, and MI having overs of Jasprit Bumrah and Mills up their sleeve.
Enter Pat Cummins. The most unlikely hero with the bat for KKR. Cummins is coming off a Test series in Pakistan, played on absolute flat pitches where he had a decent hit with the bat. But this – 56 off 15 balls; 6 sixes, 4 fours – was insane. And to do it on the pitch that hadn’t looked easy at all, not least for someone new coming in to bat.

After taking a single on his first ball, the carnage started: Mills was taken for a six and a four. While Venkatesh brought up a 41-ball scratchy fifty, Pat Cummins batted like dream at the other end. He then took on Bumrah, one of the best in the business, for another big one followed by a boundary.
35 runs required off 5 overs; the game hung in balance and how many times we had seen MI pull off such victories. Well, that thought was banished in just one over – that of Daniel Sams.
It was Sams who had conceded 24 runs against Delhi Capitals when they needed 28 off the last three overs. Today he was massacred by his compatriot, the Aussie Test captain. Sams conceded all of the 35 runs in one over that MI had to defend in five overs: 6, 4, 6, 6, 2nb, 4, 6. Pat Cummins registered the joint-fastest fifty in the IPL off 14 balls. Cummins had middled almost everything, clearing the long Pune boundaries with nonchalance ease.
“I probably think I’m most surprised by that innings,” said Pat Cummins.

Speechless fans didn’t know how to react except with showing incredible shock at this insane hitting from Pat Cummins.
Here are some of the best reactions to his white-ball slaughtering from Pat Cummins:
