Known for his bold and straightforward avatar, Ravi Shastri believes that he would have easily gone for 15 crore and more had he been in the IPL mega-auction at his peak level.
Ravi Shastri was one of the finest all-rounders of his time. An opening batsman, a left-arm spin bowler, and a gun fielder, Shastri reckons these traits would have teams splurging out huge money for him. He also was confident that he will be picked as the captain of the side in the IPL.
After stepping down as India’s head coach last year, Shastri has now returned to the commentary box for the IPL 2022 and has also donned the analyst’s hat for ESPNcricinfo.
Ravi Shastri said that teams would have bid minimum INR 15 crore for his.

Recently, Shastri participated in the rapid-fire round for Cricinfo, where he was asked variety of questions. One of which was for how much he’d be sold in the IPL auction. This was Shastri’s blunt answer: Comfortably in the 15 crore bracket, and captain of the side!
He said that it was “no brainer” that he’d fetch at least 15 crore and it would only go above that.
He was then asked to name one player from his playing days who would have bossed the IPL. Without any hesitation, Shastri named legendary all-rounder and 1983 World Cup-winning skipper- Kapil Dev.
Next, with Virat Kohli leaving RCB’s captaincy – Faf du Plessis has been handed the responsibility now – Ravi Shastri was asked for his advice to the former India captain Virat Kohli ahead of IPL 2022: “Enjoy,” he said.

Another player who will have the spotlight this season is all-rounder Hardik Pandya, the captain of Gujarat Titans. Hardik hasn’t played any game since the T20 World Cup last year as he has been focusing on his fitness, in particular, his bowling fitness; Pandya has been dealing with back injury issues for more than two years that has rendered him unable to bowl full tilt for a long time.
A piece of advice from Ravi Shastri to Hardik Pandya ahead of IPL 2022: Have a ball (literally).
In the same interview, Ravi Shastri termed Sachin Tendulkar as the “most complete player”.
