Rishabh Pant led Delhi Capitals ended their journey in the ongoing 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League on a disappointing note as they were defeated by Mumbai Indians in the last league game of the season on Saturday at the Wankhede Stadium. This defeat resulted in Delhi Capitals getting knocked out of the IPL 2022 playoffs race.
It was yet another heartbreak for Delhi Capitals. This has been the story for DC for the last few years since 2019. Ever since Delhi Daredevils was rebranded as Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, they have made it to the playoffs every single time for three years in a row, however, failed at the final hurdle. But this time, the team has failed to qualify for the playoffs as well and this early exit will hurt them the most.

Delhi Capitals will end their journey in IPL 2022 with 14 points. They are currently sitting at 5th position in the points table, with 7 wins and 7 defeats.
Meanwhile, DC captain Rishabh Pant took to his social media and shared a beautiful message for his fans and supporters. In his Tweet, Pant shared a picture of the IPL 2022 squad along with a special message for the fans. He wrote:
“This is just one part of the team and the other part is you guys – our fans and supporters. Thank you for showing your support during our highs and on our lows. We will aim to come back together and give our best. #classof2022 @DelhiCapitals”

After the game last night, Rishabh Pant also talked about the performance of his team throughout the tournament. Talking about the journey, Pant said:
“I think most of the game we were on top of the game. But on a few occasion when we were on top of the game, we let it slip away from our grasp. That’s one of the things we have been doing throughout the tournament. I think we were not good enough to win this match I guess. [Dealing with the pressure] I think it’s not about the pressure but at the same time we could have done better execution, better planning. That’s the only thing and we have been missing that a lot throughout the tournament.”
He added: “So we have to learn from our mistakes next season and come back as a strong team again next year. [Defending 159] I think we were 5-7 runs short. We were not short much. We actually really bowled well throughout the tournament but dew came in on the latter half of today’s match and we missed our execution. We didn’t bowl to our planning. It’s hard but at the same time we have to take it on our chin and learn from it.”
