Death. Taxes. KL Rahul scoring runs in the IPL. Rahul has been, without any argument, the most consistent batsman in the IPL since 2018. Taking charge as a captain, two years for Punjab followed by Lucknow, hasn’t at all affected his run plundering streak.
On Sunday afternoon, Rahul notched up his fourth fifty-plus score of the season – two of which are centuries – in 10 matches as he guided his side to a total of 195, leading from the front with 77 off 51 balls. His innings included 4 classy-stroked fours and 5 cleanly struck sixes.
He was involved in a mammoth 96-run stand from 61 balls with Deepak Hooda, who scored 52 off 34 balls. Then, in his 39-run partnership with Marcus Stoinis, Rahul hammered 23 runs off 11 balls, upping the ante for the late push towards a near 200 total.
KL Rahul now has amassed 451 runs in 10 innings, at an average of 56 and strike rate of 145, something that he’s markedly improved after being criticised for lack of intent in the past couple of seasons at Punjab Kings. At the moment, only Jos Buttler, who is having his best IPL season, is ahead of KL Rahul in terms of runs with the Rajasthan Royals opener recording 566 runs in 9 matches.
He also has been surreal at the Wankhede Stadium: in 11 innings at this venue, he averages 64 at a strike rate of 149, having notched up 2 centuries and 4 half-centuries.
Time and again, for the past three-four years, KL Rahul has proven he is not only one of India’s finest, but one of the best white-ball openers in the world.
Twitter erupted in praise and awe of KL Rahul’s form and his high-quality shot-making that has got everyone admiring the right-hander.
Here are some of the best reactions to the latest of KL Rahul’s sizzling innings:

KL Rahul has been my biggest gem ever since he entered the main scene in 2016 he’s been my favourite batsman he can do it all finesse, power-hitting, clutch, the ability to put big runs consistently on the scoreboard, RCB should’ve retained him in 2017.
