Former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli is having his worst IPL season with the bat since 2008. The talisman RCB batter is even finding it difficult to get going in the IPL 2022 with bowlers exploiting all of his weaknesses.
Kohli has been dismissed thrice on a golden duck now this season – twice versus SRH and once vs LSG – and 6 of his12 innings have been single digits, while two others were of 12 runs each.
Felt absolutely helpless: Virat Kohli

In a jovial chat with host Danish Sait, who plays the role of Mr. Nags, on the RCB Insider show, Kohli joked that he had felt helpless after he was registered his second golden duck. He reckoned he could manage only a smile because this is something that’s never happened before in his career.“First-ball ducks. After the second one (duck), I actually realised what It feels like to be like you (Mr Nags character), absolutely helpless. It hasn’t happened to me ever in my career, I think. That’s why I smiled because I felt like I have seen everything now. It’s been so long, I have seen everything this game has to show,”
As it turned out, things were to get even worse as he was again dismissed for a golden duck vs SRH. Before his latest failure vs SRH, his two previous innings saw him score some runs, but those too came at a really poor strike rate – 58 off 53 vs Gujarat Titans and 30 off 33 vs Chennai Super Kings – resulting in a negative impact on his team’s total.Kohli now averages only 19 after 12 matches at a strike rate of 111; never after 2008, when he averaged 15, has Kohli managed a lower season average than this.Although Kohli is having a horrific time as a batsman, RCB are doing pretty well, back to winning ways with consecutive wins over CSK and SRH. They are also back at the fourth position in the points table, with 14 points and 2 more games to go.Also Read: IPL 2022: Shubman Gill Gave A Cracking Reply To His Trolls On Twitter
