Indian Premier League auction for the 2023 edition is just around the corner. After the mega auction for the last edition, this will be a mini one. Chennai Super Kings are always known to be a smart franchise for picking players worth value for the money. Their scouting staff has done great jobs in the past and they will be needed to do a job in this auction as well. The 2021 season for MS Dhoni’s team was one of their worst as the 4-time winners finished second from the bottom. There were injury concerns and some star players could not perform as expected, and some new signings can make things different for them.

Vijay Shankar
CSK clearly have issues in their middle-order batting. Though Shivam Dube has done well for them in patches in this year’s tournament he is far from being a match-winner for them. Vijay Shankar can make a difference if he gets to play for his home franchise. Shankar is enough experienced in IPL cricket and his variable medium pace can help change games at Chepauk’s pitch.
Washington Sundar
CSK needs a backup for Jadeja. The star all-rounder had one of the worst campaigns of his career this year. Sundar’s inclusion can sort a lot of things for them. Chenna’s spin-friendly track is ideal for Sundar’s bowling.
Shahrukh Khan
The management now will be looking to build a team for the future with Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni at the end of their careers. CSK needs a finisher who can win games. Shahrukh is a proven match-winner in T20 cricket in the domestic circuit for Tamil Nadu and is worthy of a buy.
