IPL 2023 Auction: RCB Can Pick These Performers Of The T20 World Cup 2022

The Royal Challengers Bangalore reached close to the IPL 2022 final, but lost Qualifier 2 to Rajasthan Royals, having defeated Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator. Thus, another IPL season ended with broken dreams from the franchise.

RCB had a number of star performers, especially in the bowling department. But with the mini-auction coming up in December, they will release some of the underperforming players to make space in their purse in order to purchase players in the IPL 2023 aiming to fill the holes in their squad.

There are a number of international stars who are currently in action in Australia in the T20 World Cup 2022 who would interest RCB.

IPL 2023 Auction: Royal Challengers Bangalore Can Pick These Performers Of The T20 World Cup 2022

Here are 3 players in the T20 World Cup 2022 that might play for RCB in IPL 2023:

Mitchell Starc

One of the deadliest all-phases fast bowlers in the world, Mitchell Starc has played in two IPL seasons in his career – 2014, and 2015 – both for RCB, wherein he snapped up 34 wickets. Since then he’s been away from the tournament due to injury and rest reasons.

Should Starc enter the IPL 2023 auction, we can expect RCB to go hard for him and have the services of the Australian speedster again. Starc pairing up with national teammate Josh Hazlewood at RCB could be the factor that RCB needs to make a push to the title next year.

Adam Zampa

Another former player of theirs which RCB might want to re-buy would be Adam Zampa. Zampa was surprisingly unsold in last year’s mega-auction – perhaps because he’d set his base price at 2 crore – after he’d played a key role in Australia winning the T20 World Cup 2021.

Zampa featured in just 3 matches in the 2020 and 2021 seasons when he was with RCB. The leg-spinner is currently ranked 7th in ICC men’s T20I bowlers rankings and is a crucial cog in Australia’s bowling attack. His being re-bought by RCB in the upcoming IPL 2023 auction won’t be a surprise at all.

Sam Curran

Sam Curran is expected to be back in the IPL auction after missing the last season due to injury. RCB could go after the young England all-rounder considering that the likes of David Willey and Akash Deep failed to nail down the spot.

Sam Curran is an established all-rounder now in the shortest format, having done wonders with CSK in IPL 2020 and 2021, and is now doing the same job for England in the T20 World Cup 2022.

Curran, who was earlier known for his swing bowling with the new ball, now has done a terrific job in the death for England by taking a five-for recently. He can also whack the ball good later in the innings, making him a complete package, something RCB can ponder going after in the auction.
