The first match of the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup 2022 got underway with Australia and New Zealand locking horns in Sydney. Playing his first T20 World Cup match, young opener Finn Allen stole the show with his surreal talent. Finn Allen scored 42 runs off just 16 balls and provided a great start to his side.

Finn Allen walked out with all guns blazing and smashed the Australian bowlers to the cleaners, and it’s not easy smashing the likes of Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Pat Cummins all over the park. Playing at a strike rate of 262, Allen smashed the lethal Mitchell Starc for 2 fours and a six in the very first over of the game. The impact of Allen’s knock was so huge that after his brisk start, the pair of Williamson and Conway struggled to keep up the pace, before finally finding their groove.

With the stunning manner in which Finn was playing, it looked like he will soon score his half-century, however, he was dismissed on the first ball of the fifth over after scoring 42 runs off 16 balls. In this flamboyant innings, the 23-year-old opener smashed 5 fours and 3 sixes. After his crucial knock fans of the IPL franchise – Royal Challengers Bangalore – flooded social media with their reactions to the stunning knock of Allen.

Notably, Allen was on the books of Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2022 but was benched during the tournament. While there were many who slammed RCB for not playing Finn in the previous season, on the other hand, many showed their excitement over having Allen for the next edition as well.

Among many, popular stand-up comedian and host – Danish Sait, who is closely associated with Royal Challengers Bangalore expressed his excitement with a special tweet for RCB fans. In his Tweet, he asked the fans to start cheering for RCB already for the next season as Allen is with them. He wrote:

“RCB fans, start screaming ee sala cup namde now only. Fin Allen is with us. #AUSvNZ”
