IPL 2023: England Leg-Spinner Adil Rashid Confirms He Will Put His Name In The Auctions

England cricket team became the World Champions as they defeated Pakistan in the big final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on November 13 to lift the trophy of T20 World Cup 2022. In the final clash between England and Pakistan, the English bowlers were able to restrict Pakistan to a total of 137/8 in their 20 overs. One of the England bowlers who impressed one and all in the summit clash was Adil Rashid.

Adil Rashid finished the T20 World Cup 2022 final with stunning figures of 4/22 from his 4 overs as he picked up the wickets of Mohammad Haris and Babar Azam. In fact, in the 12th over of the innings, not just he dismissed the Pakistan captain but he also bowled a maiden over, which is a rare thing in the T20I format. All thanks to this, he became the fourth bowler in history to bowl a wicket maiden over in a T20 World Cup final. Though he picked only four wickets in the marquee tournament, he bowled at an economy of 6.14.

Adil’s performance with the ball must have caught the eyes of the owners of several IPL franchises as they would be looking forward to getting him in their squad. Amazingly, Rashid has also confirmed his availability for the IPL 2023 auctions to be held on December 23, 2022, at Kochi. After the game, while interacting with the news agency PTI, Rashid said:

“Yes, I will be putting up my name in IPL auctions this time,”

While he confirmed that he will be putting up his name, he also revealed that he hasn’t been in contact with any of the teams ahead of the mini-auction.

Furthermore, Rashid also said that he adopted the strategy of bowling slower through the air compared to other leg spinners Shadab Khan and Liam Livingstone, who was bowling it quicker through the air in the final. He said:

“Babar’s googly, I don’t if it was the turning point of the match but I was definitely getting some turn. I don’t know about Shadab Khan or Liam Livingstone. I was bowling a bit more slow today and got the big leggies (leg breaks) going my way. Normally I bowl a bit quicker and bit shorter. That was my game plan for me and that’s the way I bowl,”
