During the IPL 2023 match between the Chennai Super Kings and the Gujarat Titans, the crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium booed and chanted “Sara Tendulkar” at Shubman Gill. Shubman, who was fielding near the outfield fence, disregarded the noise. GT begin their season with a victory over the defending IPL champions.
In the inaugural game of the IPL 2023 season, the Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The defending champions needed 19.2 overs to beat the four-time IPL champions after being set a target of 179. Shubman made a crucial contribution to the victory and scored the game-winning fifty.
Gill’s impressive batting performance won over the crowd, but not before some hecklers started making fun of the kid. Sara Tendulkar chants were created by the crowd to make fun of him.
While fielding near the outfield fence, Shubman Gill kept his cool and chose to tune out the boos and jeers.
This isn’t the first time the crowd has made fun of Shubman by bringing up Sara. Sara’s name was frequently used as a form of teasing against the cricketer during the 2022–23 home season. Sara and Shubman’s relationship status remains unknown.
The Gujarat Titans won the toss and elected to bowl first. Two batsmen were removed in the first ten overs thanks to Devon Conway’s early breakthrough. Thanks to the efforts of Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK put up a total of 178/7 and stayed in the hunt for a big score.
The right-hander hit nine sixes and four fours during his innings. Ruturaj had an impressive 184.00 slugging percentage.
The opening pair of Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill scored 37 runs for the Gujarat Titans, setting the team off to a good start. Saha left on a 25 off of 16. Shubman held one end after his dismissal and eventually scored 63 runs off of 36 balls in the 15th over.
Vijay Shankar’s 27 not out was pivotal, and he was joined in the victory by Rahul Tewatia (15*) and Rashid Khan (10*). On Monday, GT will travel to take on the Delhi Capitals, while CSK will welcome the Lucknow Super Giants to their home stadium (April 3).
