IPL 2023: Good News For Mumbai Indians As Jofra Archer Is All Set To Make A Return To International Cricket

Star England pacer Jofra Archer, who was bought by Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians for INR 8 crore in the players’ mega auction earlier this year, is all set to make a comeback. The 27-year-old pacer is likely to play for Mumbai Indians in the upcoming 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. Jofra was earlier a part of the Rajasthan Royals franchise in the Indian Premier League but he was unavailable in the last two editions due to injury.

As per a report in Cricbuzz, Jofra who last played a competitive game on July 20, 2021, has already started bowling and will be fully ready by March, when the IPL is scheduled to kickstart.

According to the latest development, Jofra is recovering well and will hopefully be able to make his full return in early 2023. He is currently in the UAE with the England Lions team.

“He is currently in the UAE with the England Lions team and is continuing his rehab. He is making excellent progress and the view is that he will be looking to play competitively again during the early part of 2023,” a spokesman for the England Wales Cricket Board (ECB) told Cricbuzz on Friday (November 18).

Jofra Archer is unarguably a precious cricketer and it may be up to the ECB whether or not to allow Jofra to take part in the upcoming edition of the IPL. However, as per sources,  Jofra has already started bowling and would be fully ready by March. But it may be up to the ECB whether or not to allow Archer to take part in IPL 2023 or not.

Despite knowing Archer’s unavailability, Mumbai Indians punted on him and splurged INR 8 crore in the last auction hoping that he would make for a deadly combination with Jasprit Bumrah. Both Bumrah and Archer are currently out of action but who knows both could be ready for the five-time champions before the start of the next season.
