Gujarat Titans thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders by seven wickets at their home ground, Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Riding on the stellar knocks of Shubman Gill and Vijay Shankar, Gujarat Titans registered a stunning win to climb to the top of the IPL 2023 points table with 12 points.

Shubman Gill played an impressive knock of 49 runs; he displayed some classical shots with excellent timing over the points and cover. Gill played with a good strike of 140.00 and knocked eight fours.

After Shubman Gill was dismissed, GT’s batter Vijay Shankar attacked the KKR batters and slammed their bowlers to all the corners of the ground. Shankar played an unbeaten 51 off 24 deliveries, along with David Miller’s unbeaten 18-ball 32, ensuring the Titans got home with 13 deliveries to spare.

While Gill couldn’t take his side through to the finish line himself, his teammates ensured that the job was done without much difficulty.

Later, after the game, Shubman Gill took to his social media and posted a cryptic Tweet, which looks like a dig at his former team Kolkata Knight Riders, which is co-owned by Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan. In his Tweet, Gill also shared a few pictures. Taking a dig at KKR, Shubman wrote:

“Day Riders”

Notably, Gill was formerly with Kolkata Knight Riders and he had even made his debut in the Indian Premier League with the two-time champions back in 2018. He became a mainstay at their top-order batting line-up, however, he was released ahead of the IPL 2023 mini-auction. Later on, he joined Gujarat Titans as one of the three pre-auction drafts for the 2022 season.

Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders have lost their sixth match and remain to sit in the eighth position in the IPL 2023 points table.
