Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Abhishek Sharma has become a standout performer in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season, grabbing everyone’s attention with his impressive batting displays. The left-handed batsman has been among the top performers in the tournament with his consistent performances with the bat.
The Punjab cricketer, who is yet to represent Team India in international cricket, has left a significant mark with his prowess in power-hitting. In the first match against Kolkata Knight Riders, Abhishek Sharma showcased his talent by scoring 32 runs off just 19 balls, including four boundaries and a couple of sixes.
Abhishek Sharma made headlines with his remarkable performances in the IPL. He smashed the fastest fifty of the season in just 16 balls against Mumbai Indians, scoring 63 runs off 23 balls, contributing to SRH’s record total of 277/3. He was named Man of the Match as SRH won by 31 runs.
Despite a promising start against Gujarat Titans, he fell for 29 runs. However, he played a vital role against Chennai Super Kings, scoring 37 runs off 12 balls, laying the foundation for an easy chase.
Abhishek Sharma creates history:
On Tuesday (April 9), Abhishek Sharma made history by becoming the first uncapped player to amass 1000 runs in the IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He achieved this milestone during the match against the Punjab Kings, he required only nine runs to reach the milestone and scored 16 runs before being dismissed by Sam Curran.

Kickstarting his IPL journey in 2018 with the Delhi Capitals, Sharma played three matches for DC, scoring 63 runs before joining SRH. His most productive season with the bat for SRH was in 2022, where he amassed 426 runs. Last year, he scored 226 runs. In the current season, he has accumulated 177 runs in five games and aims to surpass the 400-run mark once again.
