IPL 2024 Auction: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Players Retained And Released

Ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have released 8 players, the biggest name in them is that of England’s Test captain Ben Stokes.

A couple of days before the deadline to announce the list of retained and released players, Ben Stokes had announced that he will pull out of the IPL 2024 season to manage his workload and fitness. Stokes has decided to undergo knee surgery on his left knee and will have a race with time to be fit for the India vs England Test series in India in January.

At INR 16. 25 crore, Ben Stokes was the most expensive player the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have ever purchased in an auction.

“The Chennai Super Kings management is supportive of Ben in his decision to manage his workload with England playing a 5-Test series in India before the IPL and then the T20 World Cup in June 2024,” an official statement from CSK said.

Senior batsman Ambati Rayudu has retired, so he is also released, and that will further fee up INR 6.7 crore in CSK’s purse.
