Sunrisers Hyderabad created history in T20 cricket by setting the record for the highest score ever in the powerplay. The Pat Cummins-led team posted an incredible score of 125 runs in just 6 runs. against Delhi Capitals in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Coming out to bat first, Sunrisers Hyderabad batters put up an extraordinary display with the bat. Openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma were relentless in their attack on the Delhi Capitals bowlers at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Fans React To Travis Head’s Powerful Knock Of 89 Runs Against DC

Travis Head began the innings explosively, smashing a six off just the second ball. From there on, he maintained his aggressive approach, making the Delhi Capitals bowlers appear helpless on their home turf. He dominated every bowler, sending the ball sailing over the boundary repeatedly.

Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma put on an incredible partnership, with both batsmen attacking aggressively from the get-go. Their partnership reached a century in just 5 overs, making Sunrisers Hyderabad’s 100 runs off 5 overs the fastest team hundred in any T20 league worldwide.

The duo made the most of the powerplay overs, with their aggressive batting resulting in Sunrisers Hyderabad scoring a staggering 125 runs in the powerplay. This achievement not only set a new record in IPL history but also in T20 cricket overall.

Abhishek Sharma’s aggressive innings came to an end after scoring 46 runs off just 12 balls, while Travis Head continued his onslaught, smashing 89 runs off just 32 balls. Their brutal batting display propelled Sunrisers Hyderabad to a flying start at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, with the opening partnership reaching 131 runs.

SRH surpassed KKR’s score of 105 runs in the powerplay to register the highest score in the powerplay.
