IPL 2024: "He Is Too Nice.." - AB de Villiers Wants To See “Fighting Spirit” In Rajat Patidar

Rajat Patidar is emerging as a promising talent in Indian cricket. The right-handed batsman gained significant recognition during the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, delivering an outstanding performance that included a century in the eliminator. Patidar has showcased consistent form in domestic cricket despite facing setbacks and injuries. Now, he is making a strong comeback and has earned a place in the Indian squad for the ODI series against South Africa.

Despite recognizing Patidar’s potential for success with the Indian team, Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers suggests that he needs to show more passion and competitiveness on the field. AB de Villiers, the legendary South African batsman, and the young uncapped Indian batter Rajat Patidar were teammates during their stint with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

De Villiers shared his experience of playing alongside Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Rajat Patidar in the Indian Premier League (IPL). De Villiers mentioned that Patidar is a nice guy and emphasized the importance of instilling a fighting spirit in him.

In a video on his YouTube channel, AB de Villiers shared his thoughts about Rajat Patidar, who has been included in India’s ODI squad against South Africa (starting at 21:26):

“He is a great player. I played with him for a few seasons at RCB but at that time he was young and now he has more experience under his belt. He is a solid personality with a solid technique.”

He added: “I want to see a fighting spirit in him. He is too nice sometimes, which might be his downfall. I think he has a bright future and it is great to see him rewarded for his performances in the domestic scene.”
