Jasprit Bumrah To Miss IPL 2024 Opener?

Jasprit Bumrah will link up with the Mumbai Indians in Ahmedabad on March 21, according to News18. He is reported to be fit and ready for MI’s opening match against the Gujarat Titans on March 24. Bumrah will have some practice sessions with the team before the game.
A source close to Bumrah, as quoted by News18, revealed: “Yes, Jasprit Bumrah will join the team directly in Ahmedabad on March 21. He will have good 2-3 days of practice there before the first match vs Gujarat Titans on March 24,”
Since making his debut for MI in 2013, Bumrah has been a consistent presence in the team. In his first season, he took three wickets but struggled with an economy rate of 10. However, he has evolved into one of the top fast bowlers in the IPL since then.
The 30-year-old has been a crucial part of MI’s five IPL victories from 2013 to 2020, contributing significantly to their success. With 145 wickets in 120 matches at an average of 23.30 and an economy rate of 7.39, he’s been a standout performer.
Bumrah has bounced back impressively from a stress fracture injury in his back. His stellar performances in the Asia Cup 2023 and World Cup 2023 continued in the red-ball series against England, showcasing his resurgence in form.
The Mumbai Indians will start their IPL 2024 campaign against the Gujarat Titans on March 24, with all-rounder Hardik Pandya as their captain. They aim to secure their sixth title in the upcoming season.
Hardik Pandya previously led the Gujarat Titans to their first IPL title in 2022, triumphing over the Rajasthan Royals. Although they reached the final again in the following season, they lost to the Chennai Super Kings.
