CSK is scheduled to begin their IPL 2024 journey against Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22. Just a fortnight before the tournament kicks off, MS Dhoni sparked intense speculation with a cryptic social media post, hinting at an intriguing “new role” for him in the upcoming season.
Dhoni’s cryptic post went viral
The ex-India captain, who guided Chennai Super Kings to their fifth IPL win last season, hinted at a mysterious “new role” in a recent Facebook post. Although Dhoni didn’t specify the league or elaborate on the role, he left everyone curious with his message: “Can’t wait for the new season and the new ‘role’. Stay tuned!” Many speculate this might be Dhoni’s last season as a player.
Last season, Dhoni mostly batted towards the end of CSK’s innings. He hasn’t confirmed if he’ll lead CSK in IPL 2024. After winning last year’s final, Dhoni was asked if he’d retire on a high, but he dodged the question, saying it’d be too easy. He said he’d try to return as CSK captain next season if his body allows.
