The IPL 2024 is likely to start on March 22 and is expected to conclude by May 25, giving the players about a week to rest for the T20 World Cup in June in the West Indies and USA.
This year’s IPL will be the 17th edition of the competition that began in 2008. It comprises most of the biggest T20 names on the planet, a few of them being the role of a captain.
In this article, we will list the salaries of all 10 IPL captains in IPL 2024.
Salary Of All 10 IPL Captains in IPL 2024:

KL Rahul – INR 17 crore
At INR 17 crore, Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul is the highest-earning captain in the IPL right now. He was roped in by LSG ahead of their maiden season in IPL 2022. Rahul led LSG to two consecutive playoffs.
Before Rahul, Virat Kohli, too, had INR 17 crore per season contract with RCB from 2018 to 2021. Now with Kohli stepping down as RCB’s captain, he took a salary cut to INR 15 crore.
Rishabh Pant – INR 16 crore
Since Rishabh Pant is expected to make his return after his car crash-induced injuries, we can include him in this list as the Delhi Capitals’ captain. Pant was retained by DC over Shreyas Iyer in 2022, at the salary of INR 16 crore per season. He missed IPL 2023 due to the accident.
Hardik Pandya – INR 15 crore
Pandya is back with the Mumbai Indians, and straightaway took the captaincy from Rohit Sharma. Hardik led GT in the last two seasons – to one IPL title and one runner-up position – and was with them at a salary of INR 15 crore. His salary with MI will remain the same – he came in through a trade – but he’s reportedly been given a handsome amount as part of the trade.
Sanju Samson – INR 14 crore
Samson was the first retention for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022, at a contract of INR 14 crore, and was named their new skipper. He led to the runner-up spot in IPL 2022.
MS Dhoni – INR 12 crore
MS Dhoni took a reduction in salary ahead of IPL 2023 – from INR 15 crore to 12 crore – and allowed Ravindra Jadeja to be the first retention at INR 16 crore. Dhoni captained CSK to their fifth IPL trophy last year and IPL 2024 could be his last season.
Shreyas Iyer – INR 12.25 crore
Iyer is set to return to the IPL after missing last season due to a back injury. He was picked by KKR in IPL 2022 auction for INR 12.25 crore and named their skipper. Nitish Rana captained KKR last season, but now Iyer will take back the duties.
Shikhar Dhawan – INR 8.25 crore
Dhawan was purchased by Punjab Kings in IPL 2022 mega-auction for INR 8.25 crore. He was their captain last season and will continue as the skipper this year too.
Shubman Gill – INR 8 crore
Gill is the newest IPL captain having been propelled to the helm at the Gujarat Titans after Hardik Pandya left for Mumbai Indians. Gill was roped in by GT ahead of IPL 2022 at a salary of INR 8 crore.
Faf du Plessis – INR 7 crore
Faf du Plessis was bought for INR 7 crore by RCB in IPL 2022 auction and appointed their new skipper after Kohli stepped down.
Aiden Markram – INR 2.6 crore
Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Aiden Markram is the least-earning IPL captain this year with a salary of INR 2.6 crore. He was named the SRH skipper last year but failed to take them to playoffs. With Pat Cummins now part of SRH, it is not certain whether Markram will continue as SRH’s skipper, though no announcement or confirmation has been made yet.
