IPL Auction 2017: Ben Stokes’ addition will make RCB the pre-tournament favourites

Ben Stokes will be one of the most chased players in Indian Premier League auction this year. Stokes is one of the best all-rounders in world cricket and his performance in England’s tour of India 2016-17 was very impressive. He was one of England’s best performer on the tour and his aggressive style of playing cricket made him a big hit among the Indian cricket fans.

In IPL auction 2017, almost every team would go after him in order to get their combination right. Stokes is a multi-dimensional cricketer who gives it his all every time he steps on the field.

Now, it will be interesting to see which team wins the bid for Ben Stokes. Our sources are reporting that Royal Challengers Bangalore have decided to go aggressively after the English all-rounder as his presence in their playing XI would give them much more balance.

RCB’s star foreign players are Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, and Shane Watson. In the last season, we saw RCB experimenting with KL Rahul at the top of the order with Virat Kohli as his partner and dropping the big Jamaican from their playing XI. As his replacement, they played Chris Jordan, who is more of a bowling all-rounder, just to balance their squad. But, they still couldn’t prevent the flow of runs and their bowling department became their biggest weakness.

Stokes’ addition to their squad would mean that they will have an experienced death bowler, specially after Mitchell Starc has pulled out of IPL 2016 to focus on Test cricket.  Stokes’ presence would also mean that they can experiment with AB de Villiers in the batting order and ask Stokes to play the role of a finisher.

It will be interesting to see which team wins the bid for Ben Stokes but if our sources are to believed it will be Royal Challengers Bangalore who will have the last laugh.
