Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) bought West Indies’ young all-rounder Rovman Powell for INR 30 lakh in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction 2017. Powell, who was the Jamaica Scorpions top batsman in the just concluded regional Super50 tournament, is a very exciting young talent and many believe he can be a good replacement for Andre Russell, who played for KKR in the last season but has been banned for one year over doping whereabouts violation.

If Rovman Powell feature in any of the matches for KKR in IPL 2017, it would be his first appearance in an overseas franchise tournament, despite being drafted for both the Bangladesh Premier League and Pakistan Super League.

“It’s another opportunity to showcase my talent. I’ve put in a lot of hard work behind the scenes and it’s a good feeling to see that everything has come to the party,” Powell was quoted as saying by rjrnewsonline.com.
