And folks, here we are nearing the end of another successful season( that’s upto one’s personal view, actually) of IPL. It can be somewhat said that the Lok Sabha election results somewhat shadowed some spectacular cricket action, but nevertheless, it was kinda expected, and the response was quite good In spite of that.

It can be concluded that KXIP have been the most consistent team of this IPL. Period. Yes, they have lost some matches, but their consistency has literally sealed their spot at the top of the table. Meanwhile, yours controversially, CSK has been going on a rough patch lately, losing 3 consecutive matches. Though they have qualified for the playoffs, their frame of mind will be quite negative. Moreover, another player, Brendon McCullum, has been in the news for fixing. Well, it can be quietly agreed that C in CSK stand for Controversy.

And then comes the rest of the teams. KKR, under the influence of duck-maker-turned-half-century-conjurer Gautam Gambhir, have justified their tag of being one of the favourites. After some initial setbacks, they have come back quite remarkably. Moreover, guess who has got the orange cap, its none other than Robin Uttappa. Well, it can be safely said that he has a chance to be in the limited overs squad. Meanwhile, yesterday’s Yusuf’s once-in-a-bluemoon innings propelled KKR into the 2nd spot, and hence increasing the chances to reach the finals.

Then our middle table languishers, RR and MI. Both have contrasting campaigns till now. While the former started off soundly, are now losing the plot in the near end of the tournament. It is just the exact opposite for the defending champions. After a horrendous start of the tournament, losing 5 consecutive matches, they have come back well, and have got themselves a reasonable chance to get into the playoffs- a virtual quarterfinals against Rajasthan Royals.

And the other three teams are just out there. RCB and SRH, both who were considered strong contenders, were left derailed in their campaign after a string of poor performances. Their respective strengths, batting for RCB and bowling for SRH, failed at the wrong time, and denied any chance of making it to the playoffs.

And speaking about Delhi Daredevils, well. Congratulations for successfully defending the wooden spoon. All the best of completing a hattrick of wooden spoons in the next year.

And thus the T20 season nears to an end. Starting with the T20 WC, many fans would have been fatigued watching the same format over and over again. But the English summer is coming up, and it does provide some respite for cricket fans.
