The Indian Premier League may see itself being hosted by a different nation as the 12th edition of the IPL may clash with the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. As per reports, the gala cricket league of India may be hosted by South Africa in 2019. India will have general elections in the year 2019 and hence to avoid the chaos this move can be initiated.

This is not the first time that the Indian Premier League would be hosted outside India. Even in the year 2009, the IPL was hosted by South Africa as in 2009 too India went into general elections.

In 2014 too the Indian Premier League was hosted by the United Arab Emirates as in 2014 too India had general elections. The league was shifted to the UAE for the first two weeks. A report by the Times Of India claims that the BCCI is pondering upon the shift of venue.
