Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the most loved and followed cricketers from India. He has a huge fan following all around the world. People look upto him as their role-model and inspiration. Millions of people wants to meet MS Dhoni, it is a dream of every aspiring cricketer to play with MS Dhoni, however, not everyone is as lucky Riyan Parag.
Riyan Parag, the 17-year-old cricketer playing for Rajasthan Royals in this season was only six years old when he first met MS Dhoni as a fan and the young lad became his rival as he made his debut for Rajasthan Royals in Match 31 a few days ago.
It was in the year 2007 when MS Dhoni led Indian team was playing a match in Guwahati against Pakistan in a bilateral series. Now 12 years down the line, the cricketer finally got his dream come true as he played against MS Dhoni. Talking about playing against his idol, Riyan said :
“I’ve been idolising Dhoni since I was 6-7 years old and now bowling to him, setting the field against him, even batting while he was keeping behind, it’s just surreal.”
He also talked about his debut in IPL, he said :
“Watching the IPL for the last five-six years and now being a part of it, being a part of Rajasthan Royals and contributing to my team. It feels surreal. I feel grateful to Rajasthan for picking me and grateful to god.”
