IPL 2022: Here’s The Biggest Reason Why Virat Kohli Is Struggling

Veteran journalist Abhijit Majumder feels Virat Kohli is “distracted” from his game and that someone has “seriously messed with his mind”. He opined following Virat Kohli’s successive golden duck in the IPL 2022.

The former Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper is going through a dreadful patch in the 15th edition of the IPL. On Saturday, against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he bagged his second golden duck of the season, just four days after he had bagged one versus Lucknow Super Giants.

IPL 2022: Here’s The Biggest Reason Why Virat Kohli Is Struggling

Virat Kohli had an ordinary start to his IPL 2022 season – recording scores of 41*, 12, 5, and 48. The signs of a big knock were there: he had looked good, especially in the 48 vs Mumbai Indians. Fans were expecting the 32-year-old, who had stepped down as RCB’s captain and India’s captain in the past year, to return to his best as a batter.

Virat Kohli didn’t. Instead, it seems to have gotten even worse for ‘King’ Kohli. After the MI game, he managed 1 run in 3 balls vs Chennai Super Kings, followed by 12 in 14 balls vs Delhi Capitals. And then came the nightmare: golden duck vs LSG, and another golden duck, vs SRH.

His numbers in IPL 2022 – 8 innings, 119 runs, average of 17 (this is Kohli’s worst season average since 2008 when he averaged 15), no half-century yet – pale in comparison with his past six seasons.

3 Reasons Why Rohit Sharma Has Struggled In IPL 2022

This “epic fall” of Virat Kohli, from being the run machine to now not even being able to play a match-winning knock, has someone else to be blamed, Majumder reckons.

“What an epic fall for Virat Kohli. From an unstoppable run machine and the nation’s biggest heartthrob to a struggling, distracted cricketer and the prized prop of woke, Bollywoodish PR campaigns. Somebody has seriously messed with his mind,” Abhijit Majumder tweeted.

Here, check out the journalist’s tweet:

Against SRH not just Kohli, but every RCB batter found it difficult to get off the blocks – with the highest score by an RCB batter being only 15. They managed a total of 68 runs, that SRH hauled down in just 8 overs. RCB, although remain in the upper half of the points table, have a lot to worry as the tournament goes deeper.
