IPL 2022: Jos Buttler Took An Absolute Ripper And Fans Can’t Keep Calm

Having helped Rajasthan Royals to a total of 193 with his thunderous century – the first of IPL 2022 – Jos Buttler gave a splendid effort in the field to get rid of the dangerous Daniel Sams.

Since RR skipper Sanju Samson had taken the wicket-keeping gloves, Buttler has been rendered to a fielder for the Royals; not a new situation for him though, as he has been a fielder for England when Jonny Bairstow used to don the keeping gloves.

Coming to his stunning catch, this occurred in the 16th over of the game, which was being bowled by leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. The game hung in balance at the start of the over with MI needing 58 runs in 5 overs with 6 wickets in hand.

Chahal struck on the first ball of the over, trapping Tim David lbw. He then had Daniel Sams on the next ball – the credit of the wicket should also be given to Jos Buttler who put in a full-stretched dive near the deep mid-wicket region.

Chahal smartly bowled a loopy delivery, inviting Sams for a big hit – the Australian obliged and attempted a slog and fell in the trap as it came nowhere from near the bat. A mistimed shot from Sams, who had already had a poor day with the ball, went high up in the air.

Despite the air time, Buttler couldn’t get under the ball in time and had to run back rapidly, but finally, put out a full-length dive – he was even mid-air for a split second – as the ball descended and managed to grab it. Buttler was elated with this catch, as evident by his rocked celebration after taking it, for he knew that Sams was the last recognised batsman in the MI line-up.

Netizens were left with their jaws hanging with this superlative catch from Jos Buttler.
