IPL 2023 Auction: Remaining Purse Value Of Each Franchise After Releasing And Retaining Players

The Sunrisers Hyderabad will march into the IPL 2023 Auction with the largest purse - INR 42.25 crore - of all the 10 franchises having released 12 players including their 14 crore retention skipper Kane Williamson plus expensive picks from the last meg-auction Nicholas Pooran and Romario Shepherd.

Having released a dozen players, including the captain, SRH will be on a shopping spree at the IPL 2023 mini-auction. And so will be Preity Zinta and the Punjab Kings once again as they have the second-largest purse - INR 32.2 crore - Punjab also has released their skipper Mayank Agarwal who was retained for 12 crores last time; Odean Smith is the other big figure released by PBKS.

The Kolkata Knight Riders released as many as 16 players but are still left with the least amount of purse of all.

All 10 franchises announced their lists of retained and released players on Tuesday. There were a few surprises - such as Dwayne Bravo being let go by CSK, Jason Holder by LSG, Nicholas Pooran by SRH, Lockie Ferguson being traded away by GT to KKR, and Kieron Pollard retired today from the IPL - while some were justified because of the huge price tag which would free up the purse.
