The Best XI Of Players Who Have Never Won The IPL

Cricket is a team game where it doesn’t really matter how good you are as an individual player, you are not going to win a lot of titles if your team is not strong enough.

Even in the IPL, some of the players who have individually put on brilliant performances on a consistent basis still don’t have the winners’ medal.
Here is the best XI of players who never won an IPL title –
Openers (Chris Gayle, Virender Sehwag)

Out of all the openers who have scored more than 2000 runs in the IPL so far, Chris Gayle and Virender Sehwag are the only ones who have got a strike rate of more than 150.
But, Gayle and Sehwag have never been involved in IPL title winning campaigns. Gayle might still get the opportunity to lift the IPL trophy in future as he is still playing, but Sehwag has already retired without an IPL title to his name.
Middle order (Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, AB de Villiers, David Miller)

RCB, Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals are the only three teams which have not been able to win the IPL title so far and it’s really surprising because these three teams have had the services of some of the wonderful cricketers in the past.
AB de Villiers played for both Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and RCB, but couldn’t guide either of the two teams to the IPL title, while Kohli also doesn’t have an IPL trophy to his name yet.
The current Indian captain has spent his entire IPL career playing for RCB and has scored plenty of runs for the franchise, but the title has somehow eluded him.
KL Rahul played for RCB for a couple of years before he moved to KXIP and despite being one of the most consistent performers in the tournament in the recent past, Rahul hasn’t found himself in a title winning group so far.
David Miller has now made his way from Kings XI Punjab to Rajasthan Royals and he would hope that the change of franchise brings change of luck for him. During his long stint at KXIP, Miller never won an IPL trophy.
All-rounder (Irfan Pathan

Irfan Pathan has scored more than 1000 runs in the IPL and has taken 80 wickets as well, but when he was in the prime of his career, he played for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and Kings XI Punjab and couldn’t win the title with those two teams.
Later, Pathan got the opportunity to be a part of CSK as well for a season, but CSK, which is otherwise a very consistent team, couldn’t win the title that season.
Bowlers (Zaheer Khan, Dale Steyn, Amit Mishra, Anil Kumble)

Zaheer Khan has played for Mumbai Indians, while Dale Steyn and Amit Mishra have played for Sunrisers Hyderabad and both these teams have won the IPL title in the past, but not when these players were part of their squads.
Zaheer didn’t feature for Mumbai from 2013 onwards when they won their first IPL title, while Steyn and Mishra didn’t feature for Sunrisers from 2016 onwards when they lifted the IPL trophy by beating the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final.
Anil Kumble played in the IPL only for three seasons and while RCB reached the IPL playoffs twice under his captaincy, they couldn’t win the title. Kumble retired from IPL in January 2011.
