Irfan Pathan Comes Out With A Hilarious Reply To Sourav Ganguly's Post

Irfan Pathan Comes Out With A Hilarious Reply To Sourav Ganguly’s Post: Sourav Ganguly, a stalwart of Indian cricket and one of the most formidable captains the nation has ever had, celebrated his 51st birthday this past Saturday. Over his illustrious career, Ganguly amassed a stunning 18,575 runs in 424 international matches. Despite a commendable performance in Test cricket, contributing over 7,000 runs, it was in One Day Internationals (ODIs) that he truly shone.

Before the special day, Ganguly posted a photo collage on social media, expressing gratitude for the love and support he’s received over the years. The post read, “The support & love keeps us going. Few more hours to go…”. This led to an interesting observation from Irfan Pathan, Ganguly’s former teammate. Pathan pointed out that one of the photos in the collage was actually of him. He tweeted, “Daadi I never knew that we look so similar while batting that you will get confused;) But Thank you, I will take that as a huge compliment.”

In the long format of the game, Ganguly played 113 matches, notching up 7,212 runs at an impressive average of 42.17. Over these games, he smashed 16 centuries and 35 half-centuries in 188 innings, with his highest score being a magnificent 239. This places him as the seventh-highest run-scorer for India in Test cricket. His debut performance against England at Lord’s in 1996, where he scored a century, was an early testament to the great player he would become.

Ganguly’s success wasn’t limited to his individual performance; he truly came into his own as a leader. He captained India in 49 matches, securing 21 victories, experiencing 13 losses, and 15 draws. This success rate, with a win percentage of 42.85, ranks him among the most successful Indian captains. His leadership was perhaps most evident in 2001, when under his captaincy, India defeated Australia 2-1 in the coveted Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Ganguly’s strategic mind, his cricketing acumen, and his ability to galvanize a team were undeniable assets to Indian cricket. His contribution goes beyond the runs he scored or the matches he won; he shaped a new generation of cricket in the country. His aggressive approach, both on and off the field, helped instill a never-say-die attitude in the Indian cricket team.

On the day of his 51st birthday, the cricketing fraternity, along with countless fans worldwide, paused to celebrate this extraordinary figure. While Ganguly may have been taken aback by the ‘photo mix-up’ in his birthday collage, it was heartening to see the camaraderie and mutual respect among former teammates. After all, these relationships, forged on the pitch and off, are part of what makes the game so special.

In conclusion, Sourav Ganguly’s 51st birthday was a fitting occasion to remember and celebrate his many achievements. From his formidable run tally to his impressive captaincy record, Ganguly has truly earned his place in the pantheon of cricketing greats. As fans and former players celebrated his birthday, it was a reminder of the lasting impact he has had on the sport.
