Irrfan Khan Had A Very Special Connection With Cricket

The tragic untimely death of the phenomenal actor Irfan Khan has sent shockwaves across the globe. Irrfan Khan, who was last seen in the movie Angrezi Medium, breathed his last at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on Wednesday after being admitted for a colon infection a day earlier.

Irrfan Khan was one of the most talented and versatile actors of Bollywood. From Maqbool, Hindi Medium, English Medium, Slumdog Millionaire, and many others, Irrfan Khan has given us many amazing performances throughout his career.

Irrfan Khan Had A Very Special Connection With Cricket

But not many are aware of the fact that before making it big in the movie industry, Irrfan Khan was training to be a cricketer. Irrfan Khan had revealed that he was ‘good’ as a cricketer, on the show Son Of Abish in the year 2017. During the show, Irrfan Khan revealed that his skipper used to like his bowling. He said:

“My captain liked my bowling, so he made me a bowler. I don’t know. He used to tell me, ‘Throw me a nice one…’ I used to just throw the ball and somehow used to get a couple of wickets,”

He added:

“I was selected in one of the tournaments – CK Nayudu. The situation in my house was such that I had to lie to go and play, and make excuses when asked where we were. So it wasn’t encouraged to have a career in sports,”

Irrfan Khan Had A Very Special Connection With Cricket

Irrfan Khan also revealed that he gave up on his cricketing career because he couldn’t arrange for the fees of Rs.200-250 every time. He revealed:

“When I was selected, the team had to travel from Jaipur to Ajmer, and I needed Rs 200-250. I couldn’t arrange for it. So that day, I realised that I couldn’t pursue this,” 

Well, the loss of cricketing world became the gain of the Bollywood industry. Irrfan Khan was a gem of a writer, who went on to straddle a successful career not just in Bollywood but also in Hollywood as well.
