India’s dynamic young wicketkeeper-batter, Ishan Kishan is going through a tumultuous time in his cricket career. He was part of the ODI World Cup 2023 squad but since then he has found himself out of the Indian team. Moreover, it seems unlikely that he will be included in the Indian team soon. Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel are ahead of him in the pecking order.
Kishan pulled himself out of the team in the middle of the South Africa tour at the fag end of 2023, citing mental fatigue. BCCI was not pleased with the antics of Kishan. Moreover, as per reports, he was seen partying in a club in Dubai and also skipped the domestic season to directly feature in IPL 2024. BCCI was furious with Kishan’s antics and even dropped him from the central contract list.
Ishan Kishan Gets Slammed By Basit Ali For Ignoring His Career
Former Pakistan cricketer, Basit Ali, slammed Kishan for his antics and blamed him for his own downfall. He stated that Kishan is only concentrating on his fashion rather than cricket. Hence, he has gone down the pecking order.
“Ishan Kishan has fallen down the pecking order. Woh bhi thoda sa fashion mein lag gaya tha (He too got into fashion a bit),” Basit said on his YouTube channel.
India are currently in Sri Lanka to feature in a 3-game T20I series and a 3-match ODI series. The new era in T20I cricket has started for Team India with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja retiring from the shortest format of the game after the World Cup. Gautam Gambhir is at the helm as the Head Coach and India have already secured the T20I series 2-0 with one game still to play.
