Mumbai Indians boast a number of match-winners in their team. Unfortunately, they had to release some highly-talented players ahead of the mega auctions. Ishan Kishan, one of the most consistent run-scorer for Mumbai Indians, also didn’t find a place among the four players retained by the franchise.

Ishan Kishan recently made his way into the Indian cricket team this year, thanks to his performances for Mumbai Indians in the IPL. However, the 23-year-old might play for a different franchise next year. Ishan has done wonders for Mumbai Indians as an opening batsman for the team and thus, he has become a regular face in the Indian T20 squad.

On Wednesday, Mumbai Indians finally announced its list of retained players ahead of the upcoming 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.

While Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Kieron Pollard seemed to be automatic choices for retention for the Mumbai Indians team management but there was a contest between Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan for the fourth spot. Ishan Kishan was being considered as the favorite for the retention, but it was Suryakumar Yadav who was retained by the team.

While the decision would not have been an easy one for Mumbai, it must have been hard for the star opener Ishan Kishan.

On Thursday, Ishan took to his social media and shared an emotional note for his fans. Ishan shared a few pictures of himself from his journey with Mumbai Indians as he thanked the franchise and his fans for all the love and support. He wrote:

“It’s been a journey that’s changed my life, professionally and personally. I’ve made friendships, grown as a player, person and I’m always grateful for the experience. Thank you to everyone at Mumbai Indians for all the love, support, and the memories ? And to the amazing fans, thank you for everything”
