Former cricketers Michael Vaughan and Wasim Jaffer share a ‘love-hate’ relationship with each other. They are known for their hilarious banters on social media, where they never miss an opportunity to troll each other on the basis of the performances of their respective national teams.
Now for the first time ever, former England captain Michael Vaughan opened up on his never-ending social media banter with Wasim Jaffer.
Well, recently, in an interview with Ravichandran Ashwin for his YouTube channel, Vaughan finally revealed how the feud between Jaffer and him started. The former captain explained that it all started in 2002 when Jaffer became his first wicket in the longest format of the game at the iconic Lords Cricket Ground.
Jaffer had a edged a delivery from Vaughan to Nasser Hussain, who was standing in the slip cordon position. Speaking on Ashwin’s show, he said:
“Well, he was my first Test wicket, Wasim, so it goes back to 2002 where he snuck a ball up the slope at Lord’s and was out caught at first slip. So, he can’t have been that good with the bat if he got out to me.”
Ashwin also questioned him on him picking the wicket of legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Responding to which, Michael Vaughan hilariously quipped that Sachin was being nice to him. He said:
“Yeah, but you know Sachin was just being nice to me but Wasim actually wasn’t bowled. He got the outside edge. Oh we have a bit of fun. I really enjoy. I’m sure he would have something by now, but I haven’t seen Twitter today, so I’m waiting,”
