Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener Jason Roy stole the show with the bat as he gave a flying start to his side in their IPL 2023 clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday, April 26.

Jason Roy Played A Brilliant Knock

Roy attacked the Bangalore bowlers from the word go. He smashed the bowlers to all the corners of the ground in the powerplay. The right-handed batter smashed a stunning half-century, scoring 56 runs off 29 balls. His amazing knock was laced with 4 fours and 5 stunning sixes.

However, he made everyone’s jaw drop with his batting prowess in the final over of the power play as he smashed Shahbaz Ahmed for four sixes that over.

Jason Roy, who was looking in great touch, didn’t leave any opportunity as he slapped Ahmed for three consecutive maximums in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th deliveries. While Ahmed somehow made him go silent on the 5th delivery, Roy wasn’t done yet as he smashed a stunning six to finish off the power play in style and also took Kolkata’s total to 66 during the power plays.

Roy was well-supported by his opening partner, Narayan Jagadeesan, who played the anchor’s role to perfection. The video of Roy’s onslaught has been going viral on the internet, you can watch it here:

Jason was eventually dismissed in the 10th over. Vijaykumar Vyshak rattled the in-form batter’s stumps with a perfect yorker as he provided a crucial breakthrough to RCB.

Meanwhile, fans on social media were left in awe of Jason’s brilliance. There were many who even compared Roy’s batting heroics to KKR legend McCullum.

Jason Roy has scored 50 with ease while the other one is struggling with fewer runs and more balls. And we were sending such batsmen for opening. Our full squad consists of such gully cricketers like Jagadeesan. The fate of losing was always obvious.
