As he did in the game against Australia by taking the first wicket of Mitchell Marsh, India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah once again gave India their first breakthrough in the match against Afghanistan, and he hit the Marcus Rashford celebration.
India and Afghanistan met on Wednesday for their second World Cup 2023 encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, which is Virat Kohli’s home ground.
Electing to bat first, Afghanistan got off to a decent, steady start by Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz , both the openers collected boundaries off Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.
Bumrah drew first blood in the 7th over, dismissing Ibrahim Zadran with his immaculate line and length. On a pitch that didn’t really offer much to the bowler, Jasprit Bumrah eked out little seam movement to get Zadran’s outside edge that was taken comfortably by wicket-keeper KL Rahul.
Soon after taking Zadran’s wicket, Bumrah made the ‘Temple Point’ celebration which is famously a trademark celebration style of Manchester United footballer Marcus Rashford who does this celebration after scoring a goal.
After taking the wicket of Zadran, Jasprit Bumrah pointed his finger on his temple (side of the forehead) and gave a big smile as the Indian players converged near him to celebrate the dismissal.
