Jasprit Bumrah Praised Rishabh Pant For His Brilliant Wicket-Keeping: It was a joyous day for the Indian team as they thrashed the ODI World Champions, England, in their own backyard to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. India registered a 10-wicket win at The Oval, chasing down a paltry target of 111 runs inside 19 overs.

Captain Rohit Sharma’s return to form was a big boost to his own confidence as the opener smashed 76* runs off 58 balls while Shikhar Dhawan remained unbeaten on 31.

But it was the bowling attack led by Jasprit Bumrah’s 6-wicket haul that downed England and put the game in India’s bag.

Bumrah registered stunning bowling figures of 6/19 – his ODI career-best and the third-best in ODIs by an Indian bowler – and was supported by a three-wicket haul from Mohammed Shami and Prasidh Krishna took the remaining one wicket. It was only the sixth time in Indian cricket history that only the pacers took all 10 wickets.

The ball was swinging and seaming significantly today and the Indian pacers made hay in favourable conditions. Apart from the English batters, it was also a challenging task for wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant, but the 24-year-old grabbed all but one opportunity that came his way.

He took three catches, two of which were taken spectacularly one-handed!

Jasprit Bumrah lauded Pant’s efforts behind the stumps today, asserting that he has been working hard on his glovemanship and that paid fruit today in conditions where the ball was swinging.

“When the ball is moving around, the keeper and the cordon is very active. Very happy that Rishabh has been working hard on his keeping as well as his batting,” Jasprit Bumrah said in the post-match interview.

The second ODI will be played at the storied Lord’s on Thursday and the third and final ODI of the series at Old Trafford on Sunday.
