India’s sensational bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been officially ruled out of T20 World Cup 2022 on Monday. The BCCI confirmed the development via an official press release. It has to be noted that Bumrah had already left the Indian squad and went to the National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru to recover from his back injury.

The speculations had started just before India’s T20I series against South Africa began on September 28. Bumrah was rushed from the venue of the game to Bengaluru so that he could be assessed by the BCCI’s medical team at the National Cricket Academy. Now following a detailed assessment, the BCCI has confirmed on Monday that Bumrah is out of the World Cup. Though BCCI didn’t specify the nature of Bumrah’s back injury.

“The BCCI Medical team has ruled out Team India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad. The decision was taken following a detailed assessment and in consultation with the specialists,” said an official statement issued by the board.

The fans on social media were left heartbroken after the news of Bumrah being ruled out of the marquee event, considering that he is one of the most crucial players on the Indian side. Also, Bumrah is the second key player that India will miss at the tournament after all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out by a knee injury. This is a major blow for the Indian cricket team ahead of the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2022.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Jasprit Bumrah also took to his Twitter and shared an emotional Tweet after being ruled out of the marquee event. In his Tweet, Jasprit expressed his disappointment for not being a part of the World Cup. He also thanked everyone for the wishes and support. He wrote:

“I am gutted that I won’t be a part of the T20 World Cup this time, but thankful for the wishes, care and support I’ve received from my loved ones. As I recover, I’ll be cheering on the team through their campaign in Australia 🇮🇳”
