Pakistan’s out of favor cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has found himself at the receiving end of criticism after he claimed that he can play for 12 years in cricket despite being not able to perform well for a long time now. Ahmed Shehzad, who has played 3 Tests, 81 ODIs and 59 T20Is for Pakistan, played his last ODI in the year 2017. As far as the longest format of the game is concerned, Ahmed Shehzad last featured in Test cricket in 2017.

However, in an interview with Cricket Pakistan, Ahmed Shehzad said that he has learned from his past experiences and can play for Pakistan for the next 12 years. He had said:
“The past two years have been tough for but I have learned a lot in that span of time and hopefully this will prove beneficial in the my upcoming years in cricket. Bearing in mind my fitness and skills, I think I can represent Pakistan for another 12 years and that is not an exaggeration,”
Well, his statements led to trolling on the internet. Seems like his statements also didn’t go down well with the Pakistani cricketing legend Javed Miandad, who has lashed out on him.

Well, in his latest YouTube video, Javed Miandad can be seen criticizing Shehzad for his claims and also asked him to let his performance do the talking. He said:
“You [Ahmed Shehzad] can play for 20 years rather than just 12, I guarantee you that but you need to perform. If you perform daily nobody will drop you from the side. If other players are performing then they will be preferred over you with regards to playing for the national side.”
He added:
“In other countries, players get selected on a series by series basis. But in Pakistan you get to play 10 matches based on just one century. This is partly the reason why there are problems in our team. As a player you should have good performance in eight out of 10 matches you play on average.”
