Fans Roast Jay Shah After Hyderabad Association Demands Change In World Cup Schedule

The problems for the BCCI continue to spring up regarding the schedule of the World Cup 2023 as now the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has written to the board demanding a modification in the schedule with less than 50 days left for the world event.

The Indian Express reported on Sunday that the HCA has written to the BCCI requesting for a gap between two games that are currently scheduled to host on consecutive days.

The Rajiv Gandhi Stadium is slated to host New Zealand vs Netherlands game on October 9 and the Pakistan vs Sri Lanka match on October 10. The Pakistan-Sri Lanka match has already undergone one modification when it was shifted from October 12 to October 10 after the PCB’s request to a gap between Pakistan’s match against India on October 14.

Hyderabad is also set to host the Pakistan-Netherlands encounter on October 6.

It has been learned that the Hyderabad Police has raised concerns about providing security for back-to-back games, especially the Pakistan match.

With this request from the Hyderabad Cricket Association, the BCCI has been given another shiver after already releasing the schedule very late. The tickets are still not available for the fans.

The World Cup 2023 schedule has already undergone modifications. The BCCI had released the first schedule only 100 days away from the tournament. This schedule then was amended, including the India-Pakistan game moved a day ahead from October 15 to October 14. A few other matches also saw its dates and venues changed. The BCCI has already been on the receiving end of heavy criticism because of a delayed schedule and alterations to it.

Will the BCCI change the World Cup 2023 schedule again?

With the Pakistan-Sri Lanka game moving to October 10, the HCA was “taken by surprise with the revised schedule and none of the BCCI bosses or staff consulted the HCA officials regarding the change of dates.” The HCA is reluctant to host two matches on consecutive days, including one game of Pakistan.

The Hyderabad Police told the HCA that it will not be able to provide adequate security and manage two back-to-back games and the security arrangements required, especially for the Pakistan game. Around 3,000 policemen will be employed for one game and a large number of police staff have to be positioned at the hotel where the Pakistan team will stay.
