Saurashtra skipper Jaydev Unadkat was ignored once again by the selectors and the BCCI, yet again. Unadkat has been giving brilliant performances consistently, but he was neither included in India’s T20I or Tests squads for the home series against New Zealand, nor for India ‘A’ side for their upcoming tour of South Africa.
On Friday, Unadkat took to his social media and shared a video of his batting in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Unadkat, who is currently leading the side in SMAT 2021, played a stunning knock of 58 runs off 32 balls, against Hyderabad. He smashed 3 boundaries and 3 sixes against the likes of Mohammed Siraj. Sharing the video, Unadkat wrote: “Just another pace bowler who can bat.”

The Tweet went viral in no time and started a buzz on social media. Several websites and news portals considered it as an indirect dig at the selectors or the BCCI. A lot of reports claiming the same have been making rounds on the internet.
However, Jaydev Unadkat rubbished all such rumors as he took to his Twitter to clear the air. In his Tweet, Unadkat cleared that his Tweet was in no way a sly or a dig at someone. He asserted that he was only showing off his performance as he was happy. He wrote:
“By the means of uploading videos of what I was able to do in a recent domestic series (cos it isn’t telecasted), doesn’t mean I am taking a jibe at anyone or any player in anyway. I took pride in what I did for my team. I am happy. I showed off. (don’t we all love to do that?)”
“Shouldn’t we take things in a positive way & have mutual respect for everyone who’s reached this level in the sport? Typing a tweet can be easy, but reaching an elite level in a sport, in a country of a billion, is not!”
