The Ashes 2021-22: England’s dashing wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler has said that it was on his “bucket list” to represent England in the Ashes and he will be living his dream when Australia and England will take the field on 8th December at The Gabba in Brisbane.
Talking about England’s chances in the Ashes series, Jos Buttler said that his side will have to be at their absolute best to beat hosts Australia in their own backyard. Buttler said that Australia plays very well at home, especially Gabba, and England will have to bring out their A game throughout the game to beat the mighty Aussies.
“Australia tend to play well here but they obviously lost recently at this venue, which proves it’s not impossible to beat them. We know to be able to do that we have to perform close to our best and if we bring our ‘A’ game we will be there or thereabouts,” Jos Buttler said.
Talking about the importance of the Ashes series, England’s wicketkeeper-batsman said that playing Ashes in Australia is on the bucket list of every cricketer who plays for England.
“For any English player, to come and tour Australia in the Ashes is certainly on your bucket list. I remember coming here on a Lions tour in 2013 and I went to watch a few of the days of the Test here in Brisbane.
Jos Buttler also mentioned about the intensity and hostility that an English cricketer faces in Australia during the Ashes and he also mentioned the travelling support they get from the Barmy Army.
“When you see it up close you understand the intensity and hostility of this environment. It’s a shame that on this tour there won’t be the travelling support of the Barmy Army.
Talking about the big challenge that England are set to face against the mighty Aussies in The Ashes 2021-22, Buttler said that he is very excited for the Ashes series and he will give his everything on the field for his nation.
“I’m incredibly excited about the challenge. It’s going to be incredibly tough but that’s kind of what you want to play the game for. I’ll throw myself into it as much as I can and I know I need to be near my best to be successful,” Jos Buttler said.
