India will be breathing a huge sigh of reprieve just ahead of the imminent Border-Gavaskar Trophy as Rohit Sharma has cleared the fitness test and will be arriving in Australia before the first test begins.
The arrival of the Hitman in Australia will provide a massive impetus to the Indian squad, considering his ability to exploit the bouncy pitches Down Under.
As confirmed by Vikrant Gupta on Twitter, the tweet read, “Rohit Sharma has cleared the fitness test. Leaving for Australia on 14th.”

How Rohit Sharma will be important to Team India?

After losing the ODI series to the hosts, India came back strongly in the T20 series, winning the contest with one game to spare. Despite the Indian bowlers struggling hard in the first two One Dayers, they managed to stage a strong comeback in the final game of the series, thanks to an incredible batting showdown from Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja.
The T20 series was a sheer example of mettle from the Indian batsmen and the bowlers, especially as the captain led from the front.
The Tests, however, will be a completely different ball game considering the difference of the factors like five days of resilience, change of surface conditions, prolonged periods of strategies to be deployed, and whatnot.
The presence of Rohit Sharma in the Indian squad will provide an additional opener in the side and this will help Team India to cope with the pressure in the initial days when the surface will be in favour of the batsmen. Also, the expertise of Sharma will be of emphatic salience to the Indian team considering the day and Night Test at Adelaide where India will have to play with the pink ball under the dew and this sounds nothing less than a nightmare for the batsmen from the sub-continent, who is not well-fed with the nutrition of swing and bounce coming hand in hand.
