Kolkata Knight Riders is one of the most successful franchises in the Indian Premier League. Under the leadership of former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir, KKR won the IPL title twice – in 2012 and 2014.
However, though, they have frequently cleared the league stage of the tournament, however, they have failed to repeat their heroics since 2014. In the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League, the Eoin Morgan-led KKR made it to the finals, however, Chennai Super Kings roared back and won the title.
While the franchise has seen some highs in the tournament so far, they have also witnessed lows and have struggled on occasions. However, not many are aware of the fact that in one of the matches, when KKR was struggling, the co-owner of the franchise and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, went on to call for a team meeting.
Well, recently, the co-owner of the team Juhi Chawla appeared on the Kapil Sharma Show, where she recalled the incident where SRK wasn’t impressed with the performance of the team. The actress revealed how she was chanting, while SRK kept on saying random things in the meeting. She revealed:
“I start praying to every God out there. I don’t even leave out Hanumanji. I even start chanting mantras, like the Gayatri Mantra, On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan starts scolding me. ‘How is he bowling? Bowling should be according to the fielding. This is not right. I must call a team meeting’, he mutters. I just stand there, not knowing what to do,” she said.
“Shah Rukh starts chatting about random things, makes fun, and doesn’t scream at anyone. In the end, he just says, ‘Play well’. Meeting over.”
Meanwhile, recently, Kolkata Knight Riders retained 4 players before the upcoming 2022 mega auction. While Andre Russell, Varun Chakravarthy, Venkatesh Iyer, and Sunil Narine were retained, their skipper Eoin Morgan was released.
