Steve Smith, who is currently the best batsman in the Australian Test Cricket team, has endured a poor run with the bat so far in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India. However, head coach Justin Langer feels that great players like Steve bounce back stronger.

Well, during a virtual press conference Justin Langer talked about many things, including the form of Steve Smith. With this, Langer backed Smith and warned Team India as he feels that the batsman will find his form in the third Test match against India. He said:

“Imagine how good we will be when he (Smith) does start batting — that’s how I look at it,”

He added:

“He hasn’t had the best of series so far. He will be the first to admit that. What I know about great players (is that) the longer they miss out, the sooner they are coming good again.”

Justin was also asked about how he trains Smith. Responding to this, Langer came up with a heart-winning reply that read:

“That puts a big smile on my face. How do you coach Steve? I don’t coach Steve Smith. Steve Smith coaches himself and I am sure he is going to work it out,”

Talking about Steve Smith, the star batsman has been struggling badly against the Indian bowlers. He has been dismissed twice by India’s spin wizard Ravichandran Ashwin.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if Steve is able to make a comeback in the Third-Test match. With the series tantalizingly poised at 1-1, the pressure is now on the Australian cricket team after Rahane and Co. overshadowed them in all the departments of the game. The third test match will kickstart from Thursday, 7th January.
