Kane Williamson’s fighting knock of 66* wasn’t enough to take his team Sunrisers Hyderabad home last night in a match against Delhi Capitals, however, his knock helped the team to tie the scores and take it to the Super-Over. SRH could manage to hit just one boundary, setting an easy target of 8-runs for Delhi Capitals, who knocked off the required runs successfully despite the brilliance of Rashid Khan.

For the unversed, it was Kane Williamson’s 5th Super-Over defeat since 2019. Kane Williamson-led New Zealand also lost the World Cup 2019 after losing the Super-Over. The Kiwis have lost 4 tied games since 2019 and Williamson was part of the team twice. In early 2020, Williamson led-New Zealand cricket team suffered a similar defeat by the Men in Blue.

Apart from the international defeats in Super-Over, the curse has followed Williamson into the IPL as well. There have been a couple of incidents when Sunrisers Hyderabad lost tied games after Super-Overs. Last night, after Williamson ended on the losing side of the game after Super-Over, he made a heartbreaking statement.

Well, during the post-match presentation, Kane Williamson was asked whether he’s tired of playing Super-Over, responding to which, Kane Williamson made a heart-touching statement. Replying in a negative way, he said that he is just tired of losing them. He said:

“I get tired of coming second in Super Overs. I think whenever there is a Super Over, as a batting side chasing a very competitive score, there’s a lot of positives to take out of it. Very uncanny, in the game of cricket, the things can end up in a tie. But I suppose that’s why it’s very very exciting. I am sure it was a great game to watch as well. So, a lot of positives, and we will move on very quickly to Delhi with a new focus,”
