Kapil Dev on Virat’s form: The Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been under the scanner of critics because of his form. Virat Kohli’s average in the longest format of the game has taken a hit since 2019 and he hasn’t scored a century in any format of the game.

In fact, next month, the Indian skipper will complete 22 months without an international hundred, having scored his last hit an international century in November 2019, against Bangladesh.

Kapil Dev Made A Big Statement On Virat Kohli’s Form

Former Indian skipper Kapil Dev, recently, talked about Virat Kohli’s form and his century drought. Talking on the show Uncut, Kapil Dev reckoned the fact that Kohli is still at his peak, and once he returns back to his ‘belligerent’ form, the Indian skipper is capable of hitting even a triple century.

“The graph has surely gone up and down but for how long? Age 28 to 32 is the time when you really blossom. He is now experienced and mature. If he returns to his old form, Virat will not only score a century or double ton; he will give you 300. He is so much mature now and there is no shortage of fitness when it comes to Kohli. He just needs to identify himself and look to score big,”

Further, Kapil Dev downplayed the thoughts of Kohli being bogged down because of the captaincy pressure. He pointed out how Kohli used to score big runs while handling the leadership of the side before his form dipped. He said:

“For all these years, when he was scoring runs, no one said anything about captaincy affecting Virat’s batting and now suddenly, there are opinions when there’s been a little up and down in his graph. When he scored those double centuries and so many hundreds, wasn’t there pressure then? It means that his captaincy should not be the focus. Instead, look at his ability,”

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli will be seen in action leading RCB in the upcoming phase 2 of the Indian Premier League 2021. RCB is currently sitting at third position in the points table.
