Kapil Dev Made A Heart Winning Statement On Jasprit Bumrah Breaking His Record

India’s sensational bowler Jasprit Bumrah is hailed as the most talented bowler around the world today. Ever since his Test debut back in 2018, the bowler has given numerous amazing performances and has achieved many milestones. Recently, during the fourth Test match at the Oval between India and England, Jasprit etched his name in the history books by becoming the fastest Indian speedster to reach 100 Test wickets.

Jasprit reached the milestone during the 4th Test match as he claimed his 100th Test wicket and becoming the quickest one to complete a century of wickets. Jasprit achieved this milestone by breaking the long-standing record of the legendary Indian all-rounder Kapil Dev.

Yes, before Jasprit, the record of the fastest Indian pacer to reach 100 Test wickets was held by the legendary Indian cricketer and World Cup hero Kapil Dev. Bumrah has achieved the feat in just his 24th Test, breaking Kapil Dev’s record of 25 Tests.

Speaking to ABP News, Kapil Dev lavished praises on Jasprit, lauding his ‘sensational’ achievement. He also praised the bowler for his action and the kind of pitches he has bowled in. He said:

“Absolutely brilliant. I keep saying that our pitches have become a lot more favourable. That is why so many fast bowlers are emerging in our country. Despite not having their main strike bowler, India have the type who create an impact. This is when Bhuvneshwar is not even there,”

He added:

“I would really like to praise Bumrah because I know what it takes to pick 100 wickets on such surfaces, to go with the fact that it’s not easy to bowl with that kind of action. Despite that, he has made such an impact for the Indian team. Hats off to him.”

Kapil Dev Made A Heart Winning Statement On Jasprit Bumrah Breaking His Record

Kapil Dev, who was the leading wicket-taker in the longest format of the game at the time of his retirement in 1994, with as many as 434 scalps, heaped praises on Jasprit’s performance across various countries. He said:

“When he began, we wondered whether he would be able to play Test cricket for India. Of course, he was good in ODIs and T20Is, but ever since he entered the cauldron of Test cricket, he’s been sensational… be it in West Indies, Australia or England. You can say that he is the world’s top bowler,”
