Legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev, who is regarded as one of the greatest cricketers to have ever played the game for India. He led team India to its maiden World Cup triumph in 1983 before MS Dhoni took India to their second World Cup win in the year 2011. Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni are the only two skippers to have lifted the ODI World Cup for India.
Recently, Kapil Dev came up with his all-time playing XI, where he expressed his admiration for former Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Well, recently, Kapil Dev appeared on a chat show No Filter Neha with Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia. During the interaction, Kapil was asked who would he pick in his team if he had to select a ‘Kapil XI’.
Kapil Dev then went on to pick a star-studded XI for ODIs with some of the biggest names in his playing XI. He picked MS Dhoni as his wicket-keeper batsman. While naming him, he expressed that no one can touch Dhoni’s spot in his side.
He further named legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, and current Indian skipper Virat Kohli among others. He said:
“There’s a test match is different, there’s a one day cricket is different. ODI…if I have to pick, I would say definitely Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli, will be there, Rahul Dravid will be there, Yuvraj will be there,”
He added:
“Wicket Keeper is only Dhoni. Nobody can touch his spot. You have Zaheer Khan, you have Srinath. Recently Bhumrah, I can say. He’s done extremely well. Anil Kumble, all-time great spinner, and Harbhajan. These are the cricketers who come to my mind very much there,”
