WATCH: ‘Beautiful’ Kaviya Maran Jumps In Delight, Celebrates Kyle Mayers’ Wicket

Kyle Mayers’ wicket in the match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Lucknow was like a new lease of life for SRH owner Kaviya Maran.

Defending a low total of 121 on the sluggish pitch against a power-packed LSG batting line-up, SRH leaked early runs as LSG raced to 35/0 in 4 overs. The game all but dusted.

And then, out of nowhere, with a little bit of luck and good planning – finally – from SRH, Kyle Mayers picked up the only fielder in the deep on the legside with his pull off Fazalhaq Farooqi. The destructive Mayers has been in mood in the first two matches, hammering fifties. So, his wicket was a bit more cherished one for SRH. It also gave them an opening for hunting an unlikely comeback.

Despite the scales of the game tilting toward the opposition at the point, Kaviya Maran couldn’t care much about the damn scales. All she wanted was something to cling onto. And as Mayank Agarwal completed Mayers’ catch, off went the daughter of SRH’s co-owner Kalanithi Maran, Kaviya Maran, who is heavily involved in SRH and its sister franchise in SA20, the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, who won the SA20 competition earlier this year, led by Aiden Markram, the new SRH skipper.

Kaviya was all elated. She jumped, cheered, shouted, embraced the humid air, breathed a sigh of relief, hoped for more. Finally, she stood still. Arms straight. Palm open and facing down as if having completed a wizardry battle and won it. Letting out the emotions, soaking in the reality: There’s a lot more left: that was just the first wicket down. Pondering, praying, hoping that the remaining 9 would also fall soon. So she could, again and again, jump out of that her seat, and beam like only Kaviya Maran does. Hog the Twitter trend like only “Kavya Maran” does. Celebrate with immense joy as if it’s 2016 again, when the internet still felt a lot more expensive, for most of us, than it does now. And so could the fans along with her.

But alas, SRH remains a story of frustrations for the ever-so-gorgeous Kaviya Maran. The endearing shades of her 50 moods have been on quite a display over the past few years in the giant IPL stadiums as her appearances to SRH’s matches have gotten more regular, and so have increased the range of emotions.  Kaviya Maran
