South Africa secured a tremendous victory over Pakistan by 1 wicket in the ICC World Cup 2023 on Friday at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. South Africa’s vice-captain Keshav Maharaj smashed the winning runs for his side, which took their team to the top of the points table.
A nail-biting encounter between both the sides saw the clash go right to the wire, and it was Keshav Maharaj, who did it for South Africa. The left-arm spinner contributed significantly to the unforgettable win as he smashed Mohammad Nawaz for a four to seal the win.
During the game, despite a strong start, the Proteas side’s score plunged from 260 to 9 for the loss of four wickets and only 25 runs, leaving the team 11 runs short of their goal. The situation seemed to tilt the game in Pakistan’s favor. Yet, against all odds, Keshav Maharaj and Shamsi held their nerves and did it for their side.
In the 48th over of the game, Mohammad Nawaz threw a shorter delivery, which Keshav smashed for a crucial boundary.
